Huw joined CompEx as Executive Director in 2020 and is committed to guiding the CompEx Scheme to the next stage of its journey. Huw is using his background in sales and marketing to increase the reach of the scheme and is keen to make continued improvements in safety standards.
Paul Hague, Technical Authority for CompEx Certification Limited, started his career at ICI Runcorn as an Electrical Technician before progressing to a number of inspection and engineering roles. Paul then moved into ‘Ex’ consultancy before beginning his association with CompEx in 2007 where he was an instructor/assessor before progressing to section head roles, which included the management of both UK and international centres. He initially took the role of Head of Internal Operations at CompEx in October 2019, having previously worked within the company as a Business Development Manager. Paul is technical lead and is responsible for ensuring that our qualifications continue to meet the needs of industry whilst ensuring adherence to international standards and industry best practice.
A Criminal Justice Graduate and Chartered Manager, Janet joined CompEx in 2012. She has previously worked for JTL within the qualifications team and established relationships with many of the Awarding Bodies. Having worked within a variety of sectors in both Training and Business Development roles, her skill set ensures that she is able to ensure a high-quality operational support to our customers. As CompEx Operations Manager, Janet oversees the Certification services and Licencing activity along with the continuous development of the IT systems and operational processes.
Amanda joined our team in 2019, having extensive experience in product management and marketing within a variety of sectors, including waste and recycling, gaming, data cooling and manufacturing. As Product Manager for CompEx, she works with various departments to manage marketing activity and direct product strategies. Amanda also conducts market research and analysis to make new propositions for our marketing strategy.
Through his previous position working at the University of Chester, Chris is fully experienced in managing information and analysing data. He brings these skills to his current role of Business Performance Analyst at CompEx, in which he is responsible for analysing company data and reporting on performance. Chris’s role is pivotal for many of our departments and also our Board, which uses this information to highlight new business opportunities.
Karen has previously worked for JTL and joined our Administration Team in 2014. She now provides a range of administrative support, including certificating candidates, processing invoices and supporting CompEx centres.
Neil has recently been promoted to Assessment Design Coordinator within CompEx and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from 4 years working in the Administration team in Wrexham. He supports Caroline, the Assessment Design Manager with data analysis, and the maintenance and development of qualifications and assessments to ensure that all qualifications are valid and fit for purpose.
Zac joined CompEx following a career in teaching, and several years working in Awarding Organisations. As Head of Qualifications, Zac is responsible for the development of relevant, valid, and fit for purpose competency schemes for the future needs of industry. Working closely with CompEx Subject Matter Experts, Zac also oversees the development of the assessment strategy and content for the CompEx assessments.
Todd recently joined CompEx as Compliance Manager in March 2022 and brings broad experience in Account Management, Auditing and Compliance. Todd is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating regulatory risk, liaising with our regulators, and implementing our revised Quality framework.
Caroline joined CompEx in early 2022 and has recently been promoted to Assessment Design Manager to ensure our qualifications are robust, valid and reliable. Caroline works with subject matter experts to craft content, develop new assessments and enhance existing assessments. Previously, Caroline worked as a tutor/assessor for apprenticeships, focusing on cybersecurity, IT and digital marketing.
John recently joined CompEx as Technical Development Manager after previously working for JTL as an Electrical Training Officer, CompEx Field Officer and EQA Manager. An Electrician with extensive experience working in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, and Power Generation sectors, John also has wide-ranging knowledge of assessment practices, training, QA and auditing. This new role will provide the CompEx Certification Scheme with subject matter expertise (SME) in relation to explosive atmospheres, relevant technical standards, regulation, and industry best practice.
Anna joined the team in September 2021 after working as a team manager and other roles as part of HMRC for more than 20 years. Reporting to the CompEx Compliance Manager, Anna’s focus is to support centres with the role of iAuditor, an online tool that will allow CompEx to complete annual audits on each centre.
Prior to working in CompEx, Rachel worked for over 12 years in childcare as a Nursery Nurse moving up to Supervisor. Rachel joined the team in November 2021 and is responsible for administrative services where she processes certificates and provides general support to all CompEx centres.
Rachel joined CompEx in June 2022 as Assistant Product Manager after almost 40 years working in the learning and delivery team at HMRC, and then a short period working for a health technology company. Rachel brings a wealth of experience to this role and will support Amanda Thomas, the Product Manager in developing the project plans for products and services, as well as monitoring the product life cycle and performance.
With extensive industry and management experience within Electrical Contracting, Construction, Manufacturing and Petrochemical Industries, Alan Montgomery recently joined CompEx as Business Development Manager. Alan is well versed in CompEx having been an Instructor/Assessor at Forth Valley College before going on to guide the team. He then joined INEOS to lead Competency Assurance whilst supporting learning and development, and later returned to Forth Valley to further develop the CompEx and Electrical Safety provision. Alan’s new role at CompEx will see him use his subject matter expertise, broad sector experience and far reaching industry network to raise awareness of CompEx, build relationships and share important safety messaging.
